ABOUT ME
In 2009 I sat on the edge of my bed, with a bottle of sleeping pills in one hand, and a bottle of ginger ale in the other.
I had been suicidal for months…. and I finally worked up the courage.
I was depressed, anxious, grieving the loss of my beloved father, suffering from insomnia, and I had been berating myself in my own head for years.
I was always my own worst enemy.
I was over 300 pounds, on a host of prescription drugs, super unhealthy, and I hated my life and myself.
I didn’t want to be here anymore and it all came to a head that night.
But as I was about to pop the bottle of pills and wash it down with the ginger ale, a quote from the Shawshank Redemption popped into my head…..
“Get busy living…..or get busy dying.”
(Cheesy I know, but it’s the truth!) And a tiny voice inside of me told me….“There’s still hope.”
So I chose to get busy living.
I lost weight, I dealt with the depression, the anxiety, the insomnia, the grief, and I got off all prescription drugs.
I learned the true power of change.
I also learned that things can be changed I previously thought couldn’t be.
Including how you think and how you deal with your emotions……
So I relied on my education in psychology, studied everything I could get my hands on, obtained countless certifications, did every course I could enroll in, and was lucky enough to work with some of the most talented experts in the world.
Learning things like trauma healing, neuroscience, rewiring our neural pathways to change our old patterns and beliefs, nervous system awareness and healing, mindfulness, emotional processing and, and mental performance.
And eventually that turned into my coaching business.
I’ve now developed my own methods, techniques, skills and philosophies that have helped hundreds of people change their lives and achieve goals, like…..
-Losing 150 pounds
-Starting successful businesses
-Finding love after divorce
-Healing from years of PTSD
-Conquering anxiety, depression, insomnia, and low self esteem
-Learning how to erase negative thinking
-Dealing with lifelong trauma
-Heal a lifelong stuttering issue that was caused by anxiety/panic attacks
-End multiple clients panic attacks they had since adolescence
Along with much more.
There’s not much I haven’t helped a client with at this point, because WE ALL have the power to change ANYTHING we want.
It all comes down to the same philosophy…..INSIDE OUT.
This philosophy has become my own way of life because you can apply it to any problem you have.
Everything you need is already inside of you.
INSIDE OUT WELLNESS.
A holistic approach that combines mental, emotional, and physical wellness to give people the tools and skills needed so they can deal with life’s challenges, and not get crushed by them.
And in 2018……My own methods got put to the test.
After almost dying in a freak accident, I found myself dealing with PTSD from coming so close to death, and almost leaving my then 6 month old daughter fatherless and traumatized.
I found myself needing to utilize all the skills and tools I had been using and teaching others for the previous 5 years to help me with my own symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and insomnia.
Thankfully it worked.
I followed my own approach, using the tool box I had developed up to that point, with skills and a framework that got me out of the toughest spot I’d been in for a long time.
It also gave me an appreciation for the methods I’d created, and deepened my knowledge on the practical application of “getting yourself out of the shit.”
I thought that was the hardest thing I would ever deal with.
Then came January 6th 2024, or as I like to think of it……”The day I was reborn.”
Due to a genetic defect in my heart, I needed an emergency aortic dissection (open heart surgery.)
Which you probably have never heard of, because most people don’t survive that.
I was rushed to the hospital for a scary surgery that involves being put under, stopping your heart and lungs, being put into a hypothermic state, and having my sternum sawed in half and my rib cage cracked open so my aorta could be repaired.
With about a 10% chance of survival, I made it through an 8 hour open heart surgery that kills most people.
In addition to the scary nature of the surgery, there is a brutal recovery that often takes years.
The pain of having your sternum sawed open and your heart operated on was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. And being laid up for almost a full year was more challenging than I could even begin to describe, since I am a generally very active person.
And the fear from having come so close to dying (again) left me with more sleepless nights, tightness in my chest, pits in my stomach, and feelings of unease all over my body than I had ever experienced in my life.
But I somehow cheated death again, and have a newfound gratitude for life.
And I want to make the most of it.
So I went to work the only way I know how.
Inside Out.
I focused on my mental and emotional health until I recovered enough to integrate working on my physical health.
I can tell you it’s been so difficult that if I didn’t have my inside out way of life, and all the tools, skills, and practices I have…..I would have GONE CRAZY (a couple times over 😂.)
My life is my work, and my work is my life.
Every step of the way life has forced me to practice what I preach, continue to grow, learn, heal and evolve.
And to share that with others.
And I have chosen to continue down the path of learning, growing, healing and helping others do the same…..
For the rest of my life.
So that’s my origin story, if you’d like to know a bit more about who I am, please see the video on this page for a lighter side of me.
